SEA CIRCLES
The sea circle can bring a subtle feeling of motion when viewed - a wave as it forms and breaks. It draws the gaze around the textural ocean to the centre. Each piece encompasses various elements, perhaps the colours of the lichen covered granite or the delicate shades of dried grass to represent a specific coastal location. A raised plaster line might be used to highlight a dominant colour of the season or balance the composition. Each begins with a strong sense of direction and yet always evolves organically. Some pieces are inspired by life, and the sea conditions are a way to communicate personal emotion. Or, as with Sea circle - Through the Lifebuoy - the rising tide, purely imaginative to convey a powerful environmental message.
The unique textural surface of the waves uses light and shadow to bring the work to life. It is an important factor, and a natural daylight source allows changes throughout the day, whereas direct artificial light increases contrast and control. A sea circle is a beautiful focal point for a room or space. Regardless of their size they have visual impact and meaning.
Commission work can be almost any size, please contact to discuss the endless possibilities. Time is a factor, so do consider that you must allow a number of months for a larger piece (80 x 80 cm) to be created.
